Steve Ramirez: A reporter’s loyalty is to our community

I was a high school sports writer for 20-plus years only to be kicked to the curb so a hedge fund could keep more money in its pocket. I was brought back in a different role out of need. I support a union because I feel it will better protect this from happening. A reporter’s loyalty is to our community and our readers; a hedge fund’s is to profit. A union is the only way we can protect our jobs so we can give our community the local coverage it deserves.
